Samsung S20 Ultra
by abouroyyan
This project turns the Samsung S20 Ultra into an interchangeable lens camera - but the modification is on the periscope camera, not the main one. The prism is moved closer to the sensor so C-mount or mirrorless lenses can be used.
The periscope module has three main parts: the prism, the lenses and the sensor. Taking off the lens part makes it act like a DSLR camera with an external lens in front of the prism. With the stock ~20mm prism-to-sensor distance only DSLR lenses with FFD above 40mm fit, so the plastic bumps in front of the sensor are removed and the prism is placed right in front of it. The metal cover is modified to a flipped position so its square hole lines up with the new prism position.
A custom EF mount lens sits on a custom flat 3D-printed plate glued to the back of a phone case - finished with a Meike 25mm lens. There is no purple tint and no color inconsistency problem. The cons: since it still uses a prism, in certain light conditions the result is too bright with low contrast - a light leaking problem.
